Preparations and Expectations: Inner Journey

Overall, I think the trip is going to be so much fun. I also think it will be so interesting to learn about everything in New Orleans, as well as getting to know my peers more. I see it as one big adventure, as well as getting to know a city that I've never been to.

I'm very excited to take the train. I've never slept on a train, let alone traveled on a double-decker train, so it will definitely be a different experience. I'm excited to see the changing landscape on our way as well. Once we get to New Orleans, I think it will be fun to actually see what the city looks like. I've seen pictures and videos, but I love the moment when you get somewhere and you get to take it in through your own senses.

I think my favorite parts of the trip will be the food tour and the ghost tour. I love trying new food, and just looking at some of the food New Orleans has to offer, I'm very excited to try it. I looked up some videos on some popular food in New Orleans and this was my favorite video:

I'm also a big fan of television shows about ghost hunting and horror movies, the ghost tour is right up my alley. I'm hoping to also learn about the building(s) that are supposedly haunted as well.

I'm super excited about this trip and hope to learn a lot about New Orleans. What I hope to get out of this course is the experience of traveling. I haven't traveled much, but hope to when my life gives me the chance. I hope this trip teaches me about what to look for in each city or country I travel to.

Preparations and Expectations: Outer Journey

One of my favorite parts of any trips is the packing done before hand. I like to think of myself as a very organized person, so I'm definitely in my element when I'm packing my things. One of the things I focused on the most was making sure I have enough comfortable clothes for the trip. I work as a bank teller, where I have to wear business casual clothes everyday, so I don't own very many comfy clothes. I also know that it isn't going to be the warmest in New Orleans, I looked up what the weather would be like when I am going to be there and made sure to pick up some warmer layers that I could put on and take off easily if I got too cold of too hot. Then, I made a list of all the clothes I needed. This list included:

  • Warm leggings
  • Comfy sweatshirts
  • Jeans
  • Stocking cap
  • Gloves
  • Rain Poncho

I also felt like I needed to prepare for the class. I gathered everything that I think I would need for class. This included things like my laptop cover, my pencil case, and a notebook. I also made sure to set up a notes section on my phone just for this trip. I didn't want to stress about it once we got to New Orleans, so I was ready to take notes before hand. To prepare for the class, I also looked up some travel vlogs of people's trips to New Orleans, just to get sense of what the city is like. I liked the following videos the best.
